As we all know, 2020 has been a really difficult year for everyone. With Christmas round the corner and Boris’s advice that Tis the Season to be Jolly Careful, we will be thinking very carefully about whether we will spend the allotted 5 days with our extended families and if so what the implications may be.
Based on scientific evidence, it appears that it may in fact be safer to keep our socialising to a minimum. So, bearing this in mind, we have looked at various ways that we can spoil ourselves on Christmas Day. For me the idea of not having to do a huge food shop and spend hours cooking is very attractive! Here are a few ideas of how we can indulge ourselves this year:
Vivek Singh from the Cinnamon Collection has designed two fabulous gifts – Old Delhi Style Butter Chicken and Shaan-e-Raan. The meals are delivered in temperature controlled boxes and can be delivered nationwide. The menus come complete with instructions to heat, plate and present etc. Dietary requirements and allergens can be catered for with suitable alternatives.
The last order for Christmas is the 18th Dec.
Elite Bitros have come up with an amazing Christmas box. You do have to do some cooking with this one, but everything is prepared and ready to go in the oven/on the hob.
The box includes potted mackerel with sourdough crisps to start the meal off, followed by perfectly carved turkey breast with lashings of gravy, with all the sides you need to make a perfect traditional Christmas Dinner. Whisky and brandy soaked Christmas pudding, cultured brandy butter with orange marmalade, followed by pistachio & salted lemon fudge, if you have room!
Simon Rogan holds multiple Michelin Stars and this year his Home Festive Lunch is not to be missed! Start with a Truffle Pudding, followed by roasted onion broth. Next you have cured trout with cauliflower puree, Norfolk Black Turkey with all the trimmings and finally a Christmas Pudding served with Brandy Anglaise. Vegetarian options are also available.
The meal will be freshly cooked and stored in sustainable vacuum bags to ensure freshness and is ready for you to simply heat up and devour. Please enjoy on or before Friday 25th December, regardless of your collection/delivery date. Details of heating and preparation will be provided with your meal as well as a QR code that you can scan and watch the chefs preparing the dishes to give you some plating inspiration. Delivery will take place between 18th and 23rd December.
