The Parcel Yard at Kings Cross Station is the perfect place for a private party on a more modest budget, with a down-to-earth atmosphere, still executed with class and style. Its fortunate location within one of the busiest and most accessible train stations in the country makes it an ideal venue for guests coming in from outside London. The Parcel Rooms sits comfortably within the stations Grade 1 listed walls, and the entire venue has a beautifully balanced sense of formality mixed with relaxation.
King’s Cross is, of course, world famous and has appeared in a huge number of TV programmes and major motion pictures – you can even visit Platform 9 ¾, which has taken up a permanent residence within the station.
There are three rooms available to hire in The Parcel Yard, each extremely versatile and as such, able to accommodate wedding receptions, team building, business meetings and corporate entertaining.
The Side Room overlooks platforms 1 – 8 of Kings Cross Station, and is probably the best people-watching spot in the whole city. Adjoining, The Waiting Room is an extremely versatile space. Intimate yet deceptively spacious, this area can be arranged in any way you like. It’s a great venue for business meetings and private drinks parties, or can be used for a sit down meal for 80 people. It boasts comfortable sofas, plenty of tables, high ceilings and lots of natural light. After dark, some simple decorative additions and some cleverly placed mood lighting achieve a relaxed ambience above the visably bustling station below.
The Atrium is surrounded by original glasswork, and has a glass ceiling 3 stories high. It is an area that is impressive to say the least, with a beautiful stone floor and an abundance of light. There is also a contemporary industrial charm to it, and stays true to the architecture it was originally assigned. This space can hold up to 65 people for standing receptions, and is at the very heart of this Grade I listed building. A great place for an office Christmas party or celebratory get-together, you’re just yards away from the bar but still have a feeling of privacy, ideal for private dining.
The final space on offer is the stunning Loft Bar, where the possibilities are truly endless. It can hold up to 300 people and has its own private bar, enormous tables and lush seating, with enough space left over for a dancefloor. This really is a brilliant place for a more relaxed city wedding reception. There is a glass ceiling, allowing plenty of natural light in the day, and later, an uninterrupted view of the night sky. The windows along one wall look over different parts of this fabulous building, and also feature a direct view three floors down onto The Atrium. This is a really flexible space with wooden floors and white walls, easily customised to your themes and schemes yet still reflecting the buildings character and history.
The food on offer is superb, and puts a truly sophisticated twist on familiar English food. It is also incredibly reasonably priced, and anything from a sandwich buffet to a sit down meal are easily arranged in this experienced and hospitable venue.
