Beautiful wedding venue with views of the Lake District
Perched in a stunning location, just on the edge of the famously beautiful Lake District, Appleby Manor Country House Hotel overlooks Appleby Castle with the Lake District Fells providing a picture-perfect backdrop. Classy, sophisticated, quintessentially English and utterly charming, this manor house was built in 1871 with making the most of the views at the forefront of the design.
This beautiful location has strengths in all seasons, from the fragrant flowers and bright green grass in the spring, to the summer sun shimmering on the lakes. A stunning view of thousands of tuing leaves signifies the arrival of autumn, and the mountains boast snowy caps in the winter months.
The function rooms at Appleby are versatile and spacious, and can accommodate anything from a wedding breakfast for 12 to exclusive use of the entire hotel for 62.
There are 31 bedrooms, most of which cater for children, but the happy couple in question will be housed in The Heelis Suite. This luxurious and romantic room features a super king sized bed, a 42″ plasma TV, a lounge area features several comfortable sofas, tea and coffee making facilities, and a Jacuzzi bath. If you wished, there can also be champagne, chocolates and flowers waiting for you after your reception. The suite can also be hired for the night before the wedding and the moing of the day, so the bride has the option to prepare in a large, accommodating and convenient place.
The wedding ceremony itself can take place in one of three places. There’s The Restaurant, Garden Room or Conservatory. The windows of the conservatory allow you to see for miles over Appleby Castle and the Eden Valley, and provide the ideal place for a summer wedding reception. A large paved terrace makes the most of the views, and is cleverly angled to be a fantastic sun trap throughout the day. The Restaurant is more suited to winter weddings and features warm, atmospheric lighting and an open fire. The Garden Room is the smallest and seats just 35, with beautiful far-reaching views of the Lake District and beyond.
The award-winning grounds and gardens give you plenty of photograph options, as well as opportunities for your guests to explore magical coers and unexpected delights. Ideal for children, the wide-open spaces mean you can sit back and relax knowing they’re always in sight, and as a family hotel, everything that may trap fingers or bump foreheads is safe and guarded.
The food and drink on offer here is diverse and freshly prepared by an experienced and enthusiastic team, who are happy to create bespoke menus and accommodate more unusual ideas. Having said that, all the old classics are available too, as well as food for the kids and options for special requests such as kosher, halal and vegan.
