New Manchester Venues Opening in 2027: Ones to Watch

Manchester’s venue landscape has changed enormously over the past few years, and 2027 is set to bring another interesting collection of new hotels, hospitality concepts and event spaces to the city.

For event organisers, the most interesting developments are not necessarily traditional conference venues. New lifestyle hotels, immersive spaces and mixed-use destinations are giving planners more choice for launches, dinners, meetings, away days and corporate events.

Here are some of the Manchester openings we will be watching during 2027.

W Manchester, St Michael’s

One of Manchester’s most anticipated hotel openings, W Manchester is due to open at St Michael’s in late 2027.

The five-star hotel will occupy part of the 41-storey No. 2 St Michael’s development in the heart of the city. Plans include 162 bedrooms alongside the W Lounge, wellness and fitness facilities and destination dining.

For Manchester, the arrival of W adds another high-end lifestyle option to a hotel market that has become increasingly interesting for corporate events.

We will be particularly interested to see how the hotel’s private event and hospitality offer develops as the opening gets closer.

Motto by Hilton Manchester Piccadilly

Motto by Hilton is another new hotel to watch, particularly because of its location.

The 154-bedroom hotel is planned for Piccadilly Basin, just moments from Manchester Piccadilly station. The 21-storey property will include a restaurant, bar and fitness space.

For event organisers, that proximity to Piccadilly could be a major advantage. We regularly see corporate briefs where easy access from a mainline station is high on the list of priorities, particularly for one-day meetings and events bringing people into Manchester from other parts of the country.

It may prove particularly useful for smaller meetings, accommodation-led events and corporate groups wanting to stay within easy reach of the station.

Mamma Mia! The Party at Medlock Square

This is perhaps the most unusual new Manchester venue currently confirmed for 2027.

A purpose-built immersive venue is being developed at Medlock Square, between the Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live, to become the Manchester home of Mamma Mia! The Party.

The venue is expected to accommodate up to 600 guests per performance, combining live entertainment, dining and an immersive theatrical setting.

Although primarily an entertainment attraction, it is exactly the sort of development we watch with interest at Function Fixers. Immersive venues can create opportunities for company celebrations, hospitality, incentives and private events, depending on the corporate hire options eventually made available.

For companies looking for something very different from a conventional dinner or Christmas party, this could become one of Manchester’s most talked-about new spaces.

InterContinental Manchester, Deansgate

Manchester’s familiar Beetham Tower is entering a new chapter.

The hotel occupying the upper floors is being transformed into InterContinental Manchester, Deansgate, with the full rebrand expected to be completed during 2027.

This is not a new-build venue, so technically it is a transformation rather than an entirely new opening. It is nevertheless significant for Manchester’s corporate events market.

The 264-bedroom hotel will bring the InterContinental brand to Manchester for the first time and should provide another luxury option for conferences, meetings, private dining and events requiring high-quality accommodation in the city centre.

Its Deansgate location and skyline views already give the property a strong identity. We will be interested to see how the event spaces evolve as part of the InterContinental transformation.

room2 Manchester

room2 Manchester is another development worth watching as the city’s hotel market continues to diversify.

The planned 33-storey property near Manchester Piccadilly is expected to have around 180 rooms and has been designed around room2’s hometel concept, with sustainability at the heart of the project.

Plans have included a rooftop restaurant as part of the development.

This is an interesting addition for companies looking beyond conventional corporate hotels. Sustainability is increasingly part of venue briefs, particularly for organisations with environmental targets and reporting requirements, so a property built around a low-carbon approach could have particular appeal.

Its location near Piccadilly should also make it useful for groups arriving by train.

Medlock Square’s New Event Spaces

Medlock Square deserves a separate mention because it is becoming a destination rather than simply a collection of individual venues.

The wider development around the Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live includes a covered event space with capacity for around 3,000 people, designed for activations, live events, sports screenings and brand collaborations.

The first parts of Medlock Square have already started opening during 2026, including The Medlock, a Radisson Blu Hotel. However, the destination will continue to evolve into 2027, particularly with the arrival of the new Mamma Mia! immersive venue and further attractions.

For corporate organisers, the interesting part is the combination of facilities in one location. Conferences, accommodation, hospitality, entertainment, team experiences and large-scale events can potentially be brought together across the wider campus.

That could make Medlock Square particularly interesting for conferences with evening entertainment, company away days, product launches and events built around sport or live entertainment.

Why Manchester Remains One to Watch

The interesting thing about Manchester’s latest wave of development is the variety.

The city is not simply adding more conference hotels. Lifestyle brands, immersive entertainment, sustainable hospitality and large mixed-use destinations are all becoming part of the venue landscape.

For organisers, that means more choice when the brief calls for something beyond a conventional meeting room.

Manchester also continues to benefit from strong rail connections, an international airport, a large hotel market and a city centre where many venues, restaurants and hotels are relatively close together.

We expect it to remain one of the first UK cities we consider for conferences and corporate events outside London.
