Stunning Tudor wedding venue in Essex – complete with luxury Glamping…
Layer Marney Tower is England’s tallest Tudor Gatehouse, looming above the Essex landscape and providing stunning views of the River Blackwater. Built using terracotta decorations such as dolphins, fish, stunning spun glass windows and diaper brickwork patterns, this building was constructed purely to impress – and the effects are evidently timeless and still achieve maximum results today.
Getting married here is a totally unique and entirely joyful experience. Use of the bridal suite is always included in the price of your big day, and you’ll also get to arrive in style in the venue’s own 1930′s Rolls Royce, complete with uniformed chauffeur at the wheel.
Large wedding ceremonies of 120 can take place in the Corsellis Room. Then, The Long Gallery (just across the courtyard) is usually used for the wedding breakfast. The Long Gallery leads out onto the stunning Tudor garden, which offers long-reaching views of untouched pastureland and fields. Your guests are free to roam the gardens, and The Tower is floodlit after dark to create a truly spectacular backdrop.
There is also a marquee company nearby with over 20 years experience in providing a pop-up venue within the grounds at Layer Marney. The largest structure that can be erected here can hold up to 300 people, and it’s also possible to have intimate wedding receptions of 15-20 people in the Tower’s Hall of the House, which is decorated in warm wooden paneling and features a stunning log wood fireplace.
This is an ideal venue to choose if you’re hoping to incorporate some Glamping into your wedding. Six separate tented encampments, named after the wives of Henry VIII, are nestled nearby in the grounds of this magnificent house.
Each camp has a main bedroom tent sleeping 6 people on proper beds, with easy access to a functioning loo and cold running water for the sinks. A lounge room then offers comfortable sofas, a dining table and a large veranda, and both indoor and outdoor cooking stoves fuelled by (provided) logs as if that wasn’t enough, you’ll even have a private shower and hot tub at each camp. There are even Wendy House style camps for the little ones, each close by to a grown-up’s camp, which feature books, toys and paints to keep them busy (and quiet) while your guests soak in the nature and tranquility of their surroundings.
