Where to Watch the Paris Olympics in London

With the 2024 Paris Olympics coming up, sports enthusiasts in London have plenty of options to catch all the thrilling action.
Team GB has announced the opening of several official “Fan Zones,” where fans can enjoy extensive Olympic coverage on big screens, all free of charge. These zones will be open daily from the Olympic Opening Ceremony to the Closing Ceremony. However, at the time of writing, there is no indication that the zones will remain open for the Paralympics.
In addition to watching the action, visitors can enjoy live DJ sets, try out Olympic-themed activities, and partake in a program of onstage entertainment, including Q&As and medal celebrations with Team GB’s returning athletes.
The Fan Zones will be set up in cities across the country, with three key locations in London: Lewis Cubitt Square in King’s Cross, Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, and Battersea Power Station.
Here’s your guide to more of the best spots in the city to watch the Olympics and enjoy a festive atmosphere.
1. Bishops Square, Spitalfields
Large screens will be set up on Bishops Square in Spitalfields (just off Brushfield Street) to show the Olympics and Paralympics. Free deckchairs will be available for viewers. Nearby, a plethora of restaurants, cafes, and street food stalls will be offering takeaways, ensuring you won’t go hungry while enjoying the games.
2. Hammersmith Summer Festival
At Lyric Square in Hammersmith, the big screen, which initially appears for Wimbledon, will stay to screen the Olympics. It’s free to watch, with deckchairs provided on a first-come, first-served basis, creating a perfect spot to enjoy the games in a vibrant setting.
3. Lower Marsh, Waterloo – 6 August
As part of the Lower Marsh Summer of Sports, a large screen on this Waterloo thoroughfare will focus on the Paris Olympics on Tuesday, 6 August. This date will feature major Athletics events, including the Men’s 400m Semi-Final, Men’s 1500m Final, and Women’s 200m Final, making it a thrilling day for track and field fans.
4. Summer in the Square, Marylebone – 7-11 August
Marylebone’s free outdoor event, Summer in the Square, returns for its 10th year. Traditionally showcasing Wimbledon, this year it will also screen the Olympics for the first time during a special Games in the Garden event. Head to Portman Square Gardens to snag a free deckchair and enjoy refreshments from the Guest Kitchen, a pop-up food space featuring a rotating selection of local restaurants and street food stalls. The family-friendly space also offers games and other activities alongside the screenings.
5. Summer Screens in Canary Wharf
The annual, free Summer Screens pop-up in Canary Wharf will feature the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, in addition to Wimbledon and various films. Bring a picnic blanket, stock up on snacks, and claim a free spot to watch the action. Keep an eye on their website for detailed schedules of the events being shown.
6. Summer by the River
The free outdoor festival Summer by the River will screen the Olympics at The Scoop, a sunken area with steps for seating. While full details of the screenings are still to be confirmed, the festival will feature pop-up bars and street food stalls to keep you refreshed as you watch the Olympic events.
7. Champion Sports Bar at Selfridges
Selfridges has opened the Champion Sports Bar, a US-themed sports bar and kitchen within the department store for the summer. Here, you can enjoy hot dogs, wings, and other classic American fare while watching the Olympics on TV screens, blending great food with thrilling sports.
Don’t stay at home, head out to watch the action with like-minded people and cheer Team GB on. Alternatively book your very own 2024 Olympics party in one of London’s numerous sports bars.
