3 unusual London venues for a girl’s night out

Private karaoke at Mary Janes Bar, Central London
For embarrassment-free karaoke, there are few better places than Mary Jane’s. This trendy, vibrant and affordable club offers up a fully-equipped private karaoke room, with a built-in PA system, 5,500 songs to choose from, lights, decorations, and most importantly – sound proofed walls. Groups of 12 can enjoy a full evening of completely humiliating girly fun here, with no consequence at all…(although it might be an idea to ban the use of Facebook for the duration of your night). You’ll also receive a complimentary dressing up box, bizarre inflatables, and your very own waitress to make sure you have a great time.
Not only is this venue incredibly good value for money, but it’s a truly enjoyable place to spend an evening of frivolous fun. You can order huge sharing platters from the grill that come with salads, breads and sauces for around £25, and the happy hour here means you can stock up on wine for your evening at just £9.90 a bottle, champagne for £26, or get the pints in at 3 for just £10.
An evening of wonder at Mr Fogg’s, Mayfair
This is the ideal venue for a quirky, academically adventurous group. Paying homage to the weird and wonderful explorer Phileas J Fogg, this venue has been adorned in curious artifacts, bizarre sculptures, intricate maps and exotic stuffed animals. The creative menus are both funny and enticing, with modern twists on Victorian favourites served in truly odd (and sometimes a little unsettling) cups and bowls.
Taking inspiration from Jules Verne, many of the sharing cocktails are served out of severed Red Indian’s heads, the absinthe come in a tiny steam train, and stunning antique cut glass punchbowls are brought out on special occasions. A really unique place to spend an evening, this venue has proved to be a fantastic choice for more learned, geek chic crowd.
The Edge, Soho
If you want all-out clubbing, The Edge is a fantastic venue for a girl’s night. This gay-friendly Soho club is clean, safe, has great music and is completely free of your usual prowling Neanderthals. Also, for large parties of up to 90 people, you can hire entire floors of this four-storey building exclusively for a truly stylish and memorable evening.
The ground floor is the main club space. It’s open until 3am on the weekends and is a sea of neon lights, heavy make up, high heels, gogo dancers and flesh-baring barmen.
The 1st floor Lounge Bar is more sophisticated, and oozes London style. A large cocktail bar and oversized comfortable seating for up to 50 people are available.
The Paparazzi Lounge features a wealth of unique, changeable lighting effects, bespoke leather seating, a stunning designer bar and paintings of celebrities.
The Penthouse Suite holds 90 and is sexy, moody and decorated in a modern Arabic style. It features an LED light up dance floor, intimate seating, DJ equipment so you can play your choice of soundtrack, and its own toilet facilities.
Function Fixers can get fantastic hire rates at these and many other venues in London – and we fully understand what’s needed for a brilliant girls night out. Call us free of charge to find out more about package deals and reduced hire rates at venues for your hen party!
