Focus on boutique hotels in London
London has a plethora of unique boutique hotels that are quite different to the big hotels we are all used to. Here are a few of our tried and tested hotels for you to look out for:
South Place Hotel is the first hotel from the restaurant group D&D. It is a distinctly different hotel with Conran-designed guest bedrooms, some beautiful rooms for hire for entertaining and two superb restaurants. The Angler restaurant focuses on seafood from Britain’s shores and rivers and sits at the top of the hotel with a beautiful terrace overlooking the city.
The Bentley Hotel is one of London’s best kept secrets. Just moments from the Kings Road in Chelsea and a short stroll to the world famous Harrods. At the Bentley you can be sure of getting the best of both worlds – relaxation and indulgence!

Staying in Chelsea, 11 Cadogan Gardens is a boutique hotel and a member of the Relais & Châteaux group. Here you will find a blend of traditional English charm and contemporary luxury. The hotel features individually styled rooms, a cosy library, and an inviting bar, perfect for relaxing after exploring the nearby boutiques and galleries.
Another of our favourite hotels in SW London is the Ampersand Hotel. Well positioned for both shopping and cultural visits to the museums on the Cromwell Road.
Further into the city, the Zetter Town House in Clerkenwell offers a unique experience with its eccentric, vintage-inspired décor. Each room is uniquely designed, filled with character, and the hotel’s cocktail lounge, Wilhelmina’s, is a popular spot for a drink in a lively atmosphere.

Also in Clerkenwell, we find the Rookery. It is located within walking distance of St Pauls. The Barbican and the Tate Mode, so again a lovely place to stay if you are in London for some sight seeing. The Rookery exudes period charm and feels more like a private club than a hotel.
Situated near Tower Bridge, The LaLiT London is a luxury boutique hotel housed in a Grade II-listed building. The hotel blends Indian heritage with British architecture, offering opulent rooms, a renowned pan-Indian restaurant, and a tranquil spa.
The Culpeper in E1 is more of a pub than a hotel and is located in the heart of East London. This trendy hotel offers a mix of modern comfort and rustic charm. With just a few rooms, it provides an intimate experience. The Culpeper also features a popular rooftop bar and garden, offering stunning views of the city, and a well-regarded gastropub on the ground floor, known for its seasonal British cuisine.

Moving east we highly recommend the Town Hall Hotel in E2. In a stunning location overlooking the city, with it’s inspirational cuisine and architecture, visiting the Town Hall Hotel is an absolute pleasure. You are just a short walk away from the famous Brick Lane and it’s amazing restaurants.

Finally, situated in the Royal Docks area within the E16 postcode, Good Hotel London is a floating boutique hotel with a social mission. The hotel blends industrial design with minimalist style, offering comfortable rooms with views of the docklands. What sets this hotel apart is its commitment to social responsibility, as it operates as a not-for-profit enterprise, training and employing long-term unemployed individuals. The rooftop terrace is a perfect spot to unwind with panoramic views of the river and city skyline.
We hope you enjoy our little tour!
